CAREER

SOFTWARE ENGINEERING IMMERSIVE - Remote Student at General Assembly: 8th August - 31st October 2022

An intense and demanding course teaching the fundamentals of Software Engineering and the creation of Full Stack MERN applications from the ground up. Focusing on key and current languages, frameworks and concepts.

The four projects I created during the course are detailed on this website.

INDUSTRY PROCESS EXPERT - EDF Energy: January 2018 - May 2022 (remote since March 2020)

Covered all aspects and methods of gaining/losing supplies to and from other suppliers in the Back Office, Asset Management and Revenue Operations department.

• Represented EDF Energy at Industry-wide meetings with OFGEM and other suppliers.
• Worked closely with Business Architects to plan EDF Energy's response to changing legislation.
• Reviewed existing processes to ensure they remained compliant with constantly evolving Industry regulations.

SENIOR DISCONNECTIONS ADVISOR - EDF Energy: October 2014 - December 2017

Internally head-hunted to front a new and expanded Disconnections team.

• Fundamental in developing, establishing and mapping Disconnection processes in SAP.
• Instrumental in growing the Disconnections team from just myself to 14 individual advisors.
• Forged the reputation of a “go-to” man for problem solving, resolution of complex queries and Ombudsman and Executive Liaison complaints.

INTERESTS

• CYCLING

I'm a keen cyclist; I ride both Cross-Country and Gravel. I used to compete at an amateur level and am the proud owner of a number of KOMs (the fastest time over a certain section) on Strava. I grew up riding the South Downs and am currently exploring the Mendips; having recently moved to Cheddar, Somerset. Unfortunately, I am still recovering from a nasty crash in August (thank you unsighted jump and tree!) so haven't been able to make the most of riding this year. My goal for 2023 is to complete my first century ride.

• READING

I'm an avid reader; I read each and every day without fail for an hour or so. It's my go to way of relaxing, if I'm not in bed by 10 with a book then something has gone wrong! I try to average a book a week and mainly read Thrillers or Science Fiction. Andy Weir is my favourite author (inspite of Artemis!); ironically he was a Software Engineer for two decades prior to the success of The Martian. Once you are aware of this fact I believe it really comes across in the methodical manner in which his main charachters tackle problems.

• GAMING

I enjoy gaming and (having recently moved) use it as a means of socialising. I was brought up on Nintendo games and still remain a fan; Animal Crossing and Metriod Prime being my favourite series (I've poured far, far too many hours into each, especially AC!). I prefer small Indie games as opposed to triple A titles; they're far more interesting and intimate.
